In preparation for their first tournament this weekend, the Hopewell 12-year old All-Star team took on the Ambridge All-Stars in a exhibition game.
The Hopewell coaching staffs strategy was to get all of their pitchers on the mound for an inning in order to have them prepared for this weekend.
All in all, it was a beneficial night as Hopewell came away with a 12-8 victory.
This 12-year old team has a very talented lineup from top to bottom but the two headliners last night were Rilynn Davis and Kruz Krotec.
Vikings Sports Now wants to give a huge shoutout to Davis who hit a long home run to center field. This was the first over the fence home run for Davis in her career. Nice job ‘Superstar’.
Krotec, batting out of the No. 3 spot, was 2-4 with a double and 2 RBIs.
Game Recap-
*1st Inning: In the first pitch of the at-bat, Davis smacked the home run to center field to give Hopewell the lead. Hopewell 1-0.
*2nd Inning: After Ambridge tied the game at 1, Hopewell drew 3 straight walks to start the inning. They then retook the lead on an RBI single by Brandon Cecchini.
After a bases loaded walk to Colby Cunningham to make it 3-1, Wes Gigliotti came through with an RBI single to score Connor Eiler. Hopewell wasn’t done as Davis smacked an RBI single to right field which scored Cecchini.
Next up, Krotec blasted a double to center which brought in Cunningham and Gigliotti. Hopewell now led 7-1. The final run of the inning scored as Davis stole home.
Later in the game, Hopewell extended the lead to 12-1 on RBI groundouts by Cunningham and Eli Seech.
Ambridge did fight back to make it 12-8 but Gigliotti closed things out.
Throughout the night, Krotec, Wade Enders, Henry Davis, Cecchini, Davis and Gigliotti pitched for Hopewell.
Good luck to this 12-year old team as they will play in the Bauerstown Tournament.
