Hopewell 8-Year-Old All-Star Defeat Findlay to Advance to Championship Game

Winning is never easy especially in tournament play, which the Hopewell 8-year-old All-Star team found out today.

Hopewell jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the 5th inning over Findlay Township before Findlay rallied late to make things interesting.

In the end, the Vikings dug deep and held on for a 10-8 win to advance to the championship game of the Blackhawk Tournament.

Hopewell pounded out 22 hits and were led by Coleson Orie, Grayden McNally and Brody Tournay each with 3. Four Vikings had 2 hits each- August Arostegui, Hudson Lavia, Cam Winiarski and Colton Eiler.

Tournay paced Hopewell with 3 RBIs, Arostegui had 2, while Declan Rinaldi, Mason Thumm, McNally, Winiarski, and Harper Lavia each had one.

Findlay got within two runs in the last inning with a runner at second but Hopewell was able to get the final out.
