The Hopewell junior high girls’ basketball teams played at Moon on Thursday afternoon and came away with a split.Â
The 7th grade game was a back-and-forth contest that came down to the end with Moon coming away with a 23-21 win. Â
Rilynn Davis came away with 15 points while Nevaeh Pope had 3, Madison Morgan had 2 and Vanessa Kurta with 1.Â
The Hopewell 8th grade team continued their winning ways as they secured a 40-31 win. As it was in their last game against Avonworth, defense was the key for Hopewell. The Vikings full court press was effective, leading to many turnovers and easy baskets.
The dominant force of Amiyah Shell and Ellie McCoy continued their strong play for Hopewell, as Shell finished with 20 points and McCoy with 9. Afton Budris has also been playing really well lately as she scored 5 points yesterday, with Arionna finishing with 2.
Hopewell has the weekend off before returning to the court on Monday as they host West Allegheny.
