The Hopewell Lady Vikings turned in an impressive performance at the 12 team M.A.C. Volleyball Tournament on Saturday.
The Lady Vikings finished as tournament runners-up after a strong day of competition. Hopewell went 4-2 in pool play, earning the third seed heading into the playoff rounds.
In the quarterfinals, the Lady Vikings edged rival Central Valley 1-0, then carried that momentum into the semifinals with a 1-0 victory over Mars, the win serving as a key confidence boost for the squad.
The championship match featured a clash of WPIAL powers: top ranked Beaver in AAA against #1 ranked Hopewell in AA. The final was tightly contested, but Beaver came away with a 1-0 win to claim the tournament title.
Hopewell head coach Terry Borkovic praised both teams and his players after the tournament, “Congrats to Beaver. They have an awesome program. I’m proud of our players. We had some big wins today. The win against Mars was a great confidence boost. We had a great day!”
The Lady Vikings strong showing against some of the WPIAL’s toughest competition highlights their potential as the season continues.
