Tonight was the final regular season game for Coach Reed’s Hopewell Pony League team and it ended with a W!
Good pitching and just enough hitting led Hopewell to a 4-2 win over Blackhawk.
The Vikings collected 10 hits on the evening and were led by Logan Sweesy, Dom Yannessa and Liam Rankin who each registered 2 hits.
Credit to second baseman Ethan Adams who drove in 3 RBIs and had an important 2-out, 2 run RBI in the 3rd inning to give Hopewell a 2-0 lead.
In the 5th inning, Hopewell extended their lead to 4-0 on an RBI triple by Sweesy and an RBI groundout by Adams.
On the mound, Richard Kurtz got the start and pitched 4 scoreless innings, allowing just 1 hit and striking out 7 batters. Jaxsen Covalt went the last 3 innings, allowing 5 hits, 2 runs, while striking out 2.
Final Score: Hopewell 4 Blackhawk 2
