The Hopewell Vikings football team will be looking to improve their record to 3-0 tomorrow night as they travel to Moe Rubenstein Stadium to take on the Ambridge Bridgers.
This will be the first road game this season for the Vikings as they take on an Ambridge that is 0-2 Ambridge lost their opener to Western Beaver, 42-7 and then last week to Laurel Highlands, 12-7.
When looking at Coach Mottes team, they defeated Riverside and New Castle by a combined score of 87-6.
These two teams played last season, with the game being delayed by a long weather delay. When the game resumed, Hopewell went on to squeak out a 35-34 OT win.
Barring some bizarre circumstances, this game won’t be that close and has the chance to get out of hand.
This Hopewell team is playing extremely well on both sides of the ball and barring a rash of turnovers, this will be a game that the Vikings coaching staff will be able to use a number of players on the roster.
Aside from winning, the most important thing tomorrow will be for Hopewell to leave Ambridge healthy and ready to go for their section opener next Friday against Beaver.
Offensively, it would be nice to see Hopewell’s downfield passing game to have some success and come up with some big plays. Defensively, they want to continue to apply pressure and live in the Ambridge backfield.
GAME DAY PREDICTION: This will be a game where the Hopewell coaching staff will need to stay on this team to enter with the same mindset they had their first two games. Don’t be overconfident and think they’re going to win just because they showed up. It doesn’t work that way, no matter how talented you are.
If they play this game the right way and respect their opponent, this will be a running clock game in the 2nd Half.
FINAL SCORE: HOPEWELL 49 AMBRIDGE 7
