Game two of the Hopewell Vikings Boys basketball summer league season took place last night and for the second straight game, the game literally came down to the final seconds.
In the opener, the Vikings won with a layup with 3 seconds left against West Allegheny. Last night, Hopewell had a chance to tie the game by hitting a pair of free throws with .02 seconds left but unfortunately that didn’t happen.
Established in 1986, family owned and serving the Beaver County community for over 40 years. Serving breakfast favorites and lunch specials.
Final Score: Montour 41 Hopewell 39

This was a very physical game that got chippy at times and showed that the Vikings are not just going to lay down anymore. Even when things are not going well, this group of kids will stand their ground.
Hopewell did not shoot well from the free throw line and Montour did, which was the difference in a very physical game.
The Vikings will regroup and host a summer league game next Thursday against Seton LaSalle. With 3 days of open gyms sessions leading into that game, the offense should look much different, and the communication should improve. As they say, Rome wasn’t built in a day, so keep in mind this group has only been together for two weeks.

Hopewell summer league game vs. Montour
One thing is becoming very apparent and something that you can bank on for this season- 1) this team will play defense 2) this team will scrap and fight regardless of the opponent 3) this team will be in most of their games until late in the 4th quarter.
I won’t make any predictions on win totals at least for this season but if you look at the track record of both the players involved combined with the coaching staff, I like their chances of winning a lot more than they lose.
