After starting preseason workouts in January, it’s hard to believe the 2025 WPIAL high school baseball season is quickly coming to a close.
While this 2025 season hasn’t gone as planned, the Hopewell Vikings still have a path to achieve their goal of qualifying for the WPIAL playoffs.

Hopewell softball and youth baseball is sponsored by Lisa McCoy, your neighborhood State Farm agent.
With 3 weeks and 6 section games remaining, Hopewell is going to need to play their best baseball of the season and go on a winning streak in order to make the postseason.
Here are the current standings in Class 4A section 1, and keep in mind that the top 4 teams from the section make the playoffs. In case of a tie for 4th place, Vikings Sports Now believes that a tiebreaker will determine which team makes the playoffs.
CLASS 4A SECTION 1Â
Blackhawk 4-2
Beaver 5-3
Ambridge 5-3
Central Valley 3-3
Hampton 3-5
North Catholic 2-4
HOPEWELL 2-4Â Â
Looking at the current standings it doesn’t look good, however with 6 games remaining if Hopewell can put a winning streak together there is a path to the playoffs. Looking back let’s hope that there 2-1 loss in their section opener to Beaver doesn’t hurt them in their path to the playoffs.
THE PATH TO THE PLAYOFFS
*The Vikings last 3 series are against Hampton, Central Valley, and Blackhawk. The bottom line is from our perspective it appears as though winning both games against Hampton is a must.
Taking a look at Hopewell’s next opponent Hampton, after starting the season 0-8, they then have won 5 out of there last 6 games. Obviously winning both games against Hampton won’t be easy but it is necessary.
*Following the series against Hampton Hopewell will the take on Central Valley. IF they’re able to sweep Hampton, winning 1 of 2 games vs Cental Valley then needs to happen.
*Coach Singletary’s team last section series will be against Blackhawk, it’s obviously too early to say how many of those games are must wins. The key is winning 3 out there next 4 games in order to make the Blackhawk series meaningful.
This crucial stretch gets under way tomorrow at Hampton starting a 4PM.
