Hopewell JV Baseball Loses to Hampton, 14-3

HAMPTON TOWNSHIP- The Hopewell JV baseball team had a rough afternoon today as they fell to Hampton, 14-3.

Hampton scored 4 unearned runs in the 1st inning as they took advantage of a Hopewell error and then scored 5 runs in the 2nd inning.

Freshman lefty Andrew Arzberger got the start and pitched 2 innings, allowing 6 hits, 9 runs (5 earned), 6 walks and 4 strikeouts. Sophomore Owen Ackerman pitched the remainer of the game going 2.2 innings, allowing 4 hits, 5 runs (2 earned), 3 walks and 4 strikeouts.

Offensively for Hopewell, Arzberger and freshman Luke Vukovcan each collected 2 hits apiece. Vukovcan hit a deep RBI double to left field in the 5th inning, scoring Arzberger.

Reed Budavich, Jaxsen Covalt, Josh Gill and Ryan Gaguzis each collected a hit for Hopewell. Gunner Reese and Ackerman each connected on deep fly balls, that unfortunately were caught and went for outs.

These two teams will square off again tomorrow with this game being played at Hopewell. First pitch is set for 4 PM.
