Hopewell High School junior catcher Charlie Smetana eats, breaths and sleeps baseball and the hard work is paying off.

Smetana is one of the best defensive catchers in the WPIAL and due to the work he’s put in over the last couple of years, his bat is now a major weapon also.
This season, Smetana has been Hopewell’s most consistent hitter and his clutch double in the 6th inning last week against Ambridge, led the Vikings to an important victory.
Charlie’s performance last week is being recognized as he’s one of the nominees this week for the Beaver County Times Athletes of the Week.
