VSN wanted to let you know about a local bowling event happening over the weekend.

Sheffield Juniors is a local community youth bowling league which takes place at Sheffield Lanes. The purpose of this is to put a focus on developing athletic skills and, hopefully, a lifelong love for the sports.

Unlike other sports, everyone participates, and no one sits on the bench in Junior Bowling. At the younger ages, the focus in on having fun and learning the basics. As the bowlers get holder, the focus changes to solidifying mechanics and working on the mental side of the sport. Basically, it gets you ready for competing at the high school level, at tournaments and eventually adult leagues, if you stick with it that long.

This season, the Sheffield Juniors League had 49 bowlers, ranging from 8 years of age through 18 years of age. Those 49 bowlers were comprised of 12 teams. Coaching those teams were Mark Sembower, Adam Loverich, Megan Heppner and Eric Popovich, who helped the bowlers in pre-game warmups and during games.
