With the high school football season winding down and college football teams only having 4 games left, high school recruiting across the country will be heating up.
Considering the amount of talent throughout their roster, it won’t be surprising to see various college programs reach out to a number of players on the Hopewell Vikings roster.
While it would be unfair to specifically name players, let’s just wait and see how the upcoming weeks and months unfold because this 2025 roster has college talent.
One of those players is someone we’ve been talking about for a year now and will continue to do so and that’s sophomore quarterback James Armstrong.
Previously, Armstrong received Power 4 offers from Pitt, Penn State and North Carolina. Today, he received word that his last D-1 offer was from Kent State.

The 6’3″, 220-pound left-hander just finished his sophomore regular season and was able to improve upon his freshman campaign. Armstrong started all 10 games and finished the season with 2,100 passing yards, 20 passing touchdowns, 700 rushing yards (105 carries) and 13 rushing touchdowns.
When looking over those stats, keep in mind, Armstrong played the last 2.5 games hurt and with very little mobility. Also, in at least 2 of those games, he only played in the first two quarters as he was pulled with the mercy rule being in effect.
With that in mind, finishing up with 2,800 total yards and 33 combined touchdowns looks even more impressive.
The 2025 season isn’t over yet for Armstrong and his Hopewell team as they’re preparing for a 1st round playoff game this Friday night at Southmoreland. This will be Hopewell’s first playoff game since 2012.
