Are you ready for some high school WPIAL playoff basketball?
With the 2025-26 regular season ending over the weekend, the WPIAL has announced the brackets for the upcoming Boys and Girls basketball playoffs.
For the first time in 16 years, the Hopewell Boys will be competing in the playoffs as they’re one of 14 teams that qualified from Class 4A.
After finishing in second place behind Quaker Valley, HC Doug Biega’s Vikings squad found out that they received the No. 5 seed in the playoffs.

CLASS 4A TOP FIVE SEEDED TEAMS (OUT OF 14)
1. Quaker Valley
2. North Catholic
3. Knoch
4. Derry
5. Hopewell
With the 5th seed, Hopewell will be taking on 12th seed Greensburg Salem. That game will take place this Friday at Hopewell High School. Tipoff will be at 7 PM.
Greensburg Salem finished the season in Section 3, tied for 4th place, with an overall record of 10-11 and 5-7 in conference. They are in the same section as No. 4 seed Derry.
Taking a look at Greensburg Salem’s section record, they finished 1-7 against the 4 other teams in the section that made the playoffs with the only win coming against 4th place East Allegheny (42-27).
This appears to be a favorable first round matchup for the Vikings. If they’re able to advance, Hopewell would then play No. 4 Derry in the next round.
By the way, in case you’re interested in meeting and congratulating the Hopewell Boys Basketball team, they are having a team dinner tonight at Shulligan’s Bar and Grille. This is in recognition of the regular season and in preparation of the upcoming playoffs.
