Hopewell HS Boys Soccer End Losing Streak, Win 1st Game of Season

0 25 1 minutes read

After a tough loss to Avonworth on Thursday, where the Vikings saw one solo goal from Tommy Armour, the Hopewell HS Boys soccer team bounced back on Saturday.

Not only did the Vikings win but did so in convincing fashion, a 9–0 win at Riverside, securing their first victory of the season.

Senior Bryce Ray led the charge with a hat trick, while Aaden Gonzalez also added 2 goals. Other goal scorers for Hopewell included Tommy Armour, Nykyeron Leonora, Rocco Marcantonio and Tyler Armour. This was Tyler’s first varsity goal, which came off a header and was assisted by his older brother Tommy.

Quincy Sannan tallied multiple assists in the match as did Tommy Armour.

Defensively, the Vikings were just as sharp. With starters Jake Kovell and RJ Bushnell sidelined, Sam Wrzesniewski, Dominic Buchanan and Elijah Persi-Jones stepped up alongside veteran Alex Alvarado and goalkeeper Tallon Coleman to preserve the shutout.

The win not only gave Hopewell its first notch in the win column but also showcased the offensive combinations the Vikings hope to build on in upcoming section play.

Vikings once again will have a packed week with hosting Quaker Valley on Tuesday and Mohawk on Wednesday. They will close up the week on Saturday when they travel to Keystone Oaks.
