The Hopewell School District will name Dr. Maura Hobson as the next superintendent replacing Dr. Jeff Beltz.
The hiring of Hobson will appear on the November 18th school board agenda, with her official start date taking place on December 1st.

I look forward to working together with the school board, staff, students, and families to ensure every student has access to high-quality, engaging, and supportive educational experiences,” said Dr. Hobson in a statement.
Hobson brings 28 years of past experience as an educator and school leader to this appointment. She began her career as both an elementary and middle school teacher before holding other positions as assistant principal, principal, leader coach. In that job, Dr. Hobson focused on strengthening instructional practice, building professional learning systems and cultivating collaborative school cultures that empower both students and educators.
In her most recent job, Hobson was the Chief of Schools and Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment for the Cedar Rapids Community School District in Iowa, overseeing districtwide academic priorities, professional learning and school leadership development.
While serving as their principal, Elizabeth Area High School was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. She expanded student programming, supported career pathways, and led districtwide professional learning initiatives. Hobson also served as a national consultant as a leadership coach partnering with school and district leaders on strategic planning and instructional improvement.
She holds a doctorate in Educational Administration from Pennsylvania Western University, a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Scranton, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Shippensburg University.
