Although the Hopewell Vikings football team has played their final game this season, there will be one more game at Tony Dorsett Stadium.
Over the weekend, the WPIAL released sites for upcoming semifinal games and Hopewell got a game as a huge recruit will be coming to town.
This Friday, No. 1 ranked and defending WPIAL champion Fort Cherry will take on Laurel. The headline of this is Fort Cherry’s Matt Sieg, who is one of the top players in Pennsylvania.
The 4-star quarterback/safety was previously committed to Penn State but re-opened his recruitment because of the firing of James Franklin.
Over the last few weeks, Sieg has taken official visits to Indiana, Pitt and this past weekend to Notre Dame.
Who knows, maybe some members of the Pitt coaching staff will travel to Hopewell on Friday. This past Friday, Pat Narduzzi and Cory Sanders were at Beaver to watch Sieg as his team defeated Neshannock.
In general, this is a good thing for Hopewell as the district will benefit a bit, the Hopewell QB Club will benefit financially from concessions and hopefully fans from Fort Cherry and Laurel will dine at one of our local restaurants.
