Mike Vukovcan When the Hopewell Vikings take on Chartiers Valley this Friday night, they’ll be entering the game in a new role.
Instead of being on the hunt chasing after the top teams in Class 3A, the Vikings will enter as the hunted.
That’s because following their 34-14 win over previously top-ranked Avonworth, Hopewell is now the top team in 3A.
This afternoon, both the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Pittsburgh Tribune Review have Hopewell ranked as the No.1 ranked team. VSN believes this is the first time since 2002 that Hopewell football has been ranked No. 1.
Along with this ranking, Hopewell is ranked No. 3 in the PIAA in Class 3A.

Hopewell will find out a lot about themselves over the next few weeks as they’ll be tested.
