Mike Vukovcan HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP– The Hopewell Vikings High School football program is starting to have success and gain momentum as they’re coming off their first playoff appearance in over a decade with big expectation for this season.
The ultimate goal though is to make this yearly and sustained success not just a 2 or 3-year run.
In order to be able to do that, players throughout Hopewell need to be developed at the junior high and youth levels. When that is able to occur, the high school team doesn’t have to rebuild, it just reloads.
The 2026 season began yesterday for the three Hopewell Youth Football organizations- The Twerps, Termites and Mighty Mites as they took on the Blackhawk Cougars.
Vikings Sports Now was able to stop over to Tony Dorsett Stadium to watch the Termites, who played extremely well as they soundly defeated Blackhawk, 26-7.
This performance was even more impressive considering it was the opening game where players are battling jitters and trying to get into the swing of things. Plus, when these teams played last year, Blackhawk won, 36-7.
The key to victory was Hopewell’s ability to dominate the line of scrimmages, both offensively and defensively. Because of this, quarterback Lincoln Bokor and running backs Huey Szafranski and KC Hudgins were able to march up and down the field all game long.
Defensively, aside from one drive in the 2nd quarter, the Vikings defense was outstanding as they controlled the line of scrimmage, were constantly in the Cougars backfield and for the most part, did not allow any big plays.
The dominance on the lines of scrimmage, no doubt pleased the Hopewell coaches, in particular head coach Craig Bokor.
Since lineman don’t receive a lot of attention, let’s give them some love! Here were the Hopewell starters on the offensive and defensive line:

Because of the age of these kids, it’s not surprising that the majority of offensive play calls were running ones. However, everything wasn’t on the ground as Hopewell threw two touchdown passes once they were in the redzone.
Both times, Bokor connected with Szafranski on the TD passes along with converting two 2-point conversions to Szafranski and Coleson Orie.
Here are a look at a few of Hopewell’s TD’s and 2-Point Conversions, along with a run to the 1-yard line by Bokor, which led to a Tush Push TD.

In the first game of the day, the Twerps defeated Blackhawk, 12-7, while the Mighty Mites came up short on the scoreboard.
Next week, the Hopewell Youth Football program will be on the road as they travel to Central Valley.
Their next home games will be on August 29th when they host Brighton Township. The Twerps play at 1 PM, the Termites at 3 PM and the Mighty Mites at 5 PM.
