Recap of Hopewell Boys and Girls Soccer Matches against Beaver

Both the Hopewell Boys and Girls Junior High soccer teams traveled to Beaver on Tuesday for matches. Both teams played competitive games but were unable to come out with wins.

The boys team battled, creating a number of scoring opportunities with strong passing combinations.

Offensively, Joshua Liptak, Kaiden Bradford, Kaleb Gonzalez and Julian Swenson had several shots a piece. However, they couldn’t find the back of the net and fell by a score of 2-0. The Vikings goalie Joshua Sutton was able to come up with a number of key saves that kept the game close throughout.

The girls team showed determination as well, fighting hard against a tough Beaver offense.

Goalie Cora Quinn made a number of outstanding saves in the first half to keep the Vikings within reach, but Beaver took a two-goal advantage into halftime.

In the second half, Hopewell pushed forward and found success with two goals of their own. The first goal came when Afton Budris scored on a breakaway and the second came when Stella Sannan was able to score on a penalty kick.

However, Beaver was able to score two more times, and the game ended with a 4-2 loss for the Viking girls.

The Hopewell junior high boys will be back in action today when they travel to South Side.
