Some big news for two people from Hopewell.

It was announced on Monday that former Hopewell High School volleyball star Christa Harmotto Dietzen and Hopewell resident Mike Sirianni will be the latest inductees into the Beaver County Sports Hall of Fame.

Congratulations to both Christa and Mike!

New Beaver County Sports Hall of Fame president LJ Zigerell made the announcement concerning this year’s Class of 2026 that will include 10 new members, including Aliquippa native and current Penn State assistant head coach Terry Smith.

Harmotto Dietzen was arguably the best and most accomplished volleyball player to ever graduate from Hopewell. She was named the Gatorade Pennsylvania girls volleyball Player of the Year in 2004. She went on to have an All-American career at Penn State, winning a national championship in 2007 and 2008. Harmotto Dietzen went on to win a silver medal for the United States in the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Sirianni is a long-time Hopewell resident and the current head football coach at Washington and Jefferson College. During his 22-year run at W&J, Sirianni has compiled a record that few others can match.

Since taking over in 2003, Sirianni has a career record of 202-49, winning the conference title 10 times and being named Coach of the Year 7 times.

The Beaver County Sports Hall of Fame has been around for 5 decades. The now over 500 members are made up of athletes, coaches, managers/promoters, media members, officials, sports agents and trainers from Beaver County.
