HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP– The Hopewell 3rd Grade Boys travel team returned home for a game tonight against Western Beaver.

Over the weekend, the Vikings won 2 of 3 games in the West Allegheny Tournament and were hoping to remain hot, which they did in a dominate performance.

Despite being without one of their top players in point guard Coleson Orie, Hopewell jumped out to an early and never trailed as they defeated Western Beaver, 36-9.

After losing their first five games of the season, Coach Orie’s team has now won 3 of their last 4 games.

The run thing about tonight’s game is that everyone member of the team was involved and contributed in a very positive way and contributing to the win. In fact, 8 of the 9 players tonight scored a basket.

A shoutout to Bryce Bell, Cam Winiarski and Trent Michael who scored their first baskets of the season. Way to go guys!

Congrats to Hopewell’s Lincoln Bokor who put on a dominate performance by scoring a game-high 19 points and 4 steals. Grayden McNalley was next with 6 points, while Michael, Winiarski, Bell, Obie DeCanio and Will Vukovcan each scored 2 points, while Maze Latimore scored 1 point.

Hopewell played another strong game defensively and controlled the boards, most times allowing Western Beaver only 1 shot. Leading the way with rebounds were Vukovcan and Winiarski each with 6, while Latimore and Michael each pulled 2 apiece and Bell, DeCanio and McNalley each had 2.

A tip of the cap to Coach Craig Bokor, who was in charge tonight. It was clear from the start that Hopewell was the better team and Bokor displayed tremendous sportsmanship with his substitution patterns and allowing all of his players to receive meaningful minutes, in a game that definitely allowed for frequent substitutions.

All in all, it was a great night for this group of boys. Winning is fun!

Next up is a Saturday afternoon matchup against Aliquippa, who defeated Hopewell earlier this season, 19-17.
