Mike Vukovcan In any level of football, a high-level quarterback always has a go-to wide receiver, one that he feels comfortable with in crunch time or when looking to make a big play.
Fortunately for Hopewell’s James Armstrong, he has more than one player that’s capable of being that guy.
However, through two games, it appears as though Armstrong has found a guy that will be that guy for the Vikings offense.
Junior wide receiver Avery Bokor has arguably been the biggest story line through 2 games for HC Matt Mottes’s team. Armstrong has performed like a 4-star quarterback and one of the top quarterbacks in the country. However, that was expected of him.
What we’ve seen thus far from Bokor has been eye-opening as he’s made at least 5 highlight type catches, going up an over the opposing cornerback to match the catch.
Through 2 games, Bokor has 11 catches for 270 yards and 4 touchdown receptions.
“The most important thing to me about how the start of the season has gone is that we are 2-0,” Bokor tells VSN. “Everything else comes second. I’m grateful for the attention I have been getting, but my goals far exceed my performances so far.”
“I am very fortunate to be able to catch passes from a player of Boo’s caliber. We both have worked extremely hard to build the trust that we have, and the talent in our receiving corps makes my job much easier. My teammates draw a lot of defenders away from me, which opens up opportunities.”
Coming into the season, Pine-Richland 2027 4-star wide receiver Khalil Taylor (who’s committed to Nebraska) and McKeesport 2027 3-star wide receiver Javien Robinson (who’s committed to McKeesport) are viewed as the top 2 wide receivers in the WPIAL this season.

At this point of this recruitment, Bokor holds an offer from Kent State, with performances like he’s put up in 2026, it’s hard to believe that more D-1 programs won’t get involved in his recruitment.
