Congratulations to the Hopewell 8U Navy Softball team for a win last night over Beaver Falls!
This is a Spring Fast Pitch Softball League, and the Lady Vikings defeated Beaver Falls, 26-5.

The entire Hopewell lineup was hitting as they collected 38 hits. The Pittsburgh Pirates might need some of these hitters!! Four players for Hopewell collected 4 hits apiece: Scarlett Phillips, Brenna Covalt, Skylar Peterson and Ann Krawczynski. Hopewell players with multiple hits included Layna Soltis, Nora Covalt, Lainey Shreve and Charlotte Rankin.
Hopewell got on the board in the bottom of the first inning following an RBI single by Chloe Smith.
In the bottom of the second, Hopewell put two more runs on the scoreboard thanks to RBI singles from Chadia Askew and Lillie Phelps.
The scoring continued in the third inning following an RBI single from Brenna Covalt, which increased Hopewell’s lead to 8-1.
The Lady Vikings broke the game wide open in the fourth inning as they put up 6 runs on 6 hits. RBIs in this big inning came from Nora Covalt, Sophia Stile, Chloe Smith tripled to drive in 2 runs and Scarlett Phillips drove in another run.
An inning after plating 6 runs, Hopewell scored 7 more in the fifth inning with RBIs from Brenna Covalt, Lillie Phelps, Layna Soltis, Ann Krawczynski with a 2-run single and Sophia Stile with a 2-run single.
The Hopewell hitting continued in the sixth inning as they put up 5 more runs with 7 hits. RBI getters were Scarlett Phillips, Skylar Peterson, Brenna Covalt, Lillie Phelps and Chadia Askew.
This talented group of girls returns to action on Wednesday as they’ll host South Side 8u Black.
