Come Support the Hopewell Teams as they Start Pony League Playoffs Next Week

The meaningful part of the Pony League season begins next week with the start of the 2025 376 Western Pennsylvania Pony League Playoffs.

Hopewell will be looking to defend their championship that they won last season under head coach Jamie Yurcina. Last season, the Vikings defeated Central Valley, two Blackhawk teams and then Freedom in a Best of Three Championship series.

The difference between last year and this year is that Hopewell has two teams in Pony League this year. You can look at that two different ways- 1) it divides up their talent 2) it also gives them two chances of winning.

The one Hopewell team is coached by Jared Reed, while the second one is led by Chip Hoffman.

Winning the championship will be difficult for any team because of the way the league scheduled games and the limitation on pitchers being able to throw. All coaching staffs will need to be strategic in how they utilize their pitchers and with how many pitches they throw.

Last season, Coach Yurcina had the luxury of having two aces at the front of his rotation in James Armstrong and Collin Davis. Camden Hoth, Andrew Arzberger, Luke Vukovcan and Jackson Yurcina also pitched valuable innings in their championship run.

The playoffs will begin Monday with games being played every day until the championships begin on Friday.

VSN wanted to let you know that both Hopewell teams will play their first games at home (Racoon Municipal Park) in case you wanted to come out and support them.

Team Hoffman will take on Riverside on Monday starting at 6 PM.

Team Reed will play on Tuesday and will take on the winner of Central Valley vs. Blackhawk. That game will also start at 6 PM.

Best of luck to both Hopewell teams and let’s defend that championship!
