0 22 1 minutes read

The Hopewell Girls 7th and 8th grade girls basketball teams took on Avonworth this afternoon at the Hopewell Junior High School.

In their earlier matchup this season, the Avonworth 7th and 8th grade teams won both games. This afternoon, the Vikings came away with a split.

In the first game, the Hopewell 7th graders lost by the score of 39-19. Rilynn Davis led Hopewell with 9 points while Nevaeh Pope had 4 and Sofia Cronin, Vanessa Kurta and Callie Sadler each had 2.

Meanwhile, the Hopewell 8th grade team pulled out a 27-19 victory over the Antelopes. The key to today’s win was no doubt the Vikings defensive effort.

Amiyah Shell continued her strong play this season by scoring a game-high 14 points, followed by Afton Budris with 6, Ellie McCoy with 3 and Arionna Shell and Dallas Boyd each with 2.

Next for the junior high girls is a matchup on Thursday at Moon. Good luck ladies!
