Mike Vukovcan Three members of the Hopewell Vikings varsity golf team will represent Hopewell today at the MAC Boys Golf Championship at Fox Run Golf Course.
Freshman Noah Honess, sophomore Zack Sampson, and senior Conner Svaranowic will take the course for the Vikings, representing three different grade levels and a varsity team that has grown together throughout the 2026 season.
Today’s MAC Championship is just the beginning of an exciting stretch for the trio. Honess, Sampson, and Svaranowic will also represent Hopewell at the WPIAL individual section championship on Monday, September 21, where they will have another opportunity to compete individually and represent the Vikings.
But the story of this year’s Hopewell golf team goes well beyond the three golfers competing in these postseason events.
The six-member varsity squad also includes junior Max Butter and sophomores Aiden Ritchart and Ryan Gaguzis. Together, the six boys have developed into a close-knit group whose friendship and support for one another have become an important part of their season.

Golf may often be viewed as an individual sport, but this group has brought a true team atmosphere to the course. They have supported one another through the good rounds and the difficult ones, celebrated each other’s successes, and built a bond that extends beyond their scores.
That camaraderie has helped give the Hopewell golf program a positive presence throughout the season. With players ranging from freshman to senior, the Vikings have combined experience with a promising group of younger golfers who will have the opportunity to continue building the program in the years ahead.
As Honess, Sampson, and Svaranowic compete at the MAC Championship today and prepare for the individual section championship next Monday, they will do so representing their entire varsity team — including Butter, Ritchart, and Gaguzis — and a season all six boys have shared together.
No matter what the scorecards ultimately show, the 2026 season has already given this group something valuable: an opportunity to compete together, support one another, and build friendships along the way.
