As expected, tonight’s matchup between Hopewell and McGuffey wasn’t much of a game as the Vikings dominated from the opening snap until the final whistle.

Final score: Hopewell 63 McGuffey 0

History was made tonight was that margin of victory was the largest in school history and the 63 points tied the most points scored in program history.

With the win, Hopewell improves their record to 5-2, which surpasses last seasons win total and is their most wins in a season since the 2016 team went 5-5.

Hopewell’s offense accounted for 499 total yards while their defense allowed only 44 yards to McGuffey.

Leading the way for Hopewell was sophomore quarterback James Armstrong who was 8 of 10 for 289 passing yards and 4 passing touchdowns. Armstrong also ran for a 10 yard touchdown.

Tonight was the best game that I’ve personally witnessed Armstrong throwing the deep ball.

Sophomore running back Nasir Wade collected 128 total yards plus a 68 yard punt return for touchdown.

Looking at Hopewell’s wide receivers: Kingston Krotec had 3 catches for 79 yards and a TD, Logan Triscila had 2 catches for 66 yards and a TD, Brody Rock 1 catch for 35 yard TD and Tre Cameron 1 catch for 43 yards.

Next week, Hopewell travels to take on Freeport in an important non-section game. Freeport entered tonight’s game 6-0 but lost to Highlands.
