HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP– It was a fun night of baseball at Hopewell’s Kane Road Baseball Complex.

Instead of taking on a team from a different town, two Hopewell Coach Pitch teams squared off Thursday night. Coach Daley and Coach Tournay’s teams met for the first time this season and it was an extremely competitive and well-played game.

Coach Daley’s/Awesome Electric team had an 8-6 team going to the bottom of the 5th inning and then Coach Tournay’s squad erupted for 4 runs, which led them to a 10-8 win. Christopher Spiropoulos got the eventual game-winning hit and received the game ball for Coach Tournay’s team. Other standouts on his team were Tony Matthews, Micah Zughaib, and Zeke Johns, who all collected 3 hits. Brody Tournay was a force in the middle of the lineup as he banged two deep doubles and collected 3 RBIs. August Arostegui was also 2 for 3 and 3 RBIs.

Hits were a plenty of the two teams combined for 39 hits!

For Coach Daley’s squad, Will Vukovcan led the way with 4 hits, including a triple and 2 RBIs. Harper Lavia, Hudson Lavia and Adley Faust had big games collecting 3 hits apiece. Four players came up with 2 hits apiece- Brady Daley, Cam Baker, Max Kokan and Will Stewart.

Also wanted to point out a couple huge plays on defense by Coach Tournay’s team, which were huge turning points in the game. In Top of the 5th inning, Micah Zughaib made two really nice catches at 3rd base, which prevented Coach Daley’s team from having a big inning. Nice job Micah!

The coaches on both teams are doing a tremendous job with these kids and you can really see the development they’ve made from the start of the season.

Next up for Coach Daley’s team is a game on Monday at Aliquippa.
