Hopewell 11-Year-Olds Don’t Quit, Fight to Beat Seneca Valley, 14-12

CENTER TOWNSHIP– Despite four different times in this game, the Hopewell 11-year-old All-Star team didn’t get down, didn’t quit and believed in themselves. As a result, they came back late in the game to defeat Seneca Valley, 14-12.

With this win, Hopewell advances to the semifinals of the Central Valley All-Star Tournament.

While the lineup as a whole produced, the big bat in Hopewell’s lineup today was Zac Seech, who went 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored and a team-high 5 RBIs. Garrett Hoffman collected 2 hits, while Michael Ambrose was 1-3 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI, Declan Lavia walked 3 times, scored 2 runs and picked up an RBI, Connor Eiler was 1 for 2 with a walk and 2 runs scored, Reagan Haring had an important 2 RBIs and Bryce Croner was 1 for 1, with 2 walks and 2 runs scored.

The key inning for Hopewell was the bottom of the 4th as they entered it trailing 12-8 but went on to score 6 runs to take the lead.

Key moments in that inning were:
–RBI single by Ambrose to make things 12-9.

–Seech tied the game up with a 2-run single.

–Hopewell took the lead as both Eiler and Seech stole home.

Hopewell went to the last inning leading 14-12 and Connor Eiler went to the mound and secured the win with a 1-2-3 inning.

First out came on a groundout to Owen McGovern at third. The final two outs came from Eiler as he recorded two strikeouts!!
