HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP– What a home opener for Coach Daley’s Coach Pitcher squad!

After losing the season opener to Ambridge 8-1, the Vikings bounced back in a big way with a 11-3 win over Beaver Falls. This team was on fire offensively as they banged out 24 hits, after collecting just 7 hits in the opener.

Following the Ambridge game, we told you that this team could and would hit and that’s exactly what they did tonight.

Taking a look at the Vikings box score, six Hopewell players collected 3 hits apiece- Hudson Lavia (double), Harper Lavia (double), Will Vukovcan (two doubles), Cameron Baker, Max Kokan and Grayson Oblinger. Leadoff hitter Adley Faust banged out two hits as did Brady Daley and Brody Lopez (double).

RBI getters for Hopewell were Hudson Lavia with 3, Vukovcan with 2, Lopez with 2 and Harper Lavia, Daley, Faust and Cillian Dames each with 1 apiece.

Hopewell jumped out a 4-0 lead after two innings. After Beaver Falls scored 3 in the top of the third, the Vikings bounced back with 3 runs apiece in the bottom of the third and fourth innings.

Not only did the Hopewell offense improve after the first game, so did the defense in terms of registering outs.

In the top of the first inning, Daley and Vukovcan connected on a nice put out from third base to second base. Then later in the game, Harper Lavia made a nice play and throw to Vukovcan at first. We want to also mention a nice catch by Cam Baker, who was playing pitcher.

All in all, it was a fun night at the Kane Road Fields!

Coach Daley’s team is next in action on Monday when they travel to New Brighton.
