RACOON TOWNSHIP– With just 5 regular season games left, it’s become clear that Hopewell’s/Team Hoffman is the team to beat in the 2026 376 Western PA Pony League.
Tonight, Team Hoffman improved their record to 8-0 with a 16-6 win over Hopewell/Team Dunn. Because it was filled with so many walks (both teams combined for 24 walks), it wasn’t the prettiest game, but a win is a win.

Two big games next week for Hopewell Team Hoffman will take place on Wednesday and Friday when they host Ambridge and travel to Blackhawk.
Taking a look at tonight’s game, the top two guys in the lineup, Vin Smetana and Connor Reed, led the way.
Smetana combined to go 6-for-7 with a walk, 5 runs scored and 8 RBIs. Smetana was 3-for-3 (with a double), 3 runs, a walk and 4 RBI. Reed went 3-for-4 with 2 runs and 4 RBI.
Smetana is seeing the ball really well at the plate as he’s gone 11-for-20 with 8 runs and 6 RBIs in his last 5 games.
Kruz Krotec, Dom Yannessa, Rhett Rankin and Christian Yesionek each drew 2 walks a piece.
Big hits in tonight’s game for Team Hoffman included a 2-run double to left by Smetana in the 2nd inning to give his team a 4-0 lead. That was followed by a 2-run single by Reed. In the 3rd, Smetana and Reed came through again with RBI singles that increased their lead to 9-1.
For Team Dunn, David Johnson had a perfect night at the plate going 2-for-2, with a walk and 2 RBI.
On the mound, Tyler Hoffman got the start for Team Hoffman and went 2 innings, allowing 3 hits, 1 earned run, 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. Reed pitched the next 2 innings, giving up 4 hits, 3 earned runs, while striking out 2 hitters. Yannessa and Evan Vogel both pitched in the final inning, combining to give up 1 earned run.
