On Sunday, Vikings Sports Now debuted a new weekly feature that we’ll be running where we highlight accomplishments that Hopewell athlete achieve outside of playing for our school teams.

This segment was very well received and we look forward to next weekend’s edition. Just a reminder, if your child is involved in a sports activity aside from school sports, message me this and every weekend letting my know how they did (724-462-5756) or mvukovcan@gmail.com. Let me know who they play for, how they did and send me a picture.

However, before we put a wrap on last weekend, VSN has a couple more accomplishments to let you know about.

**A shoutout to Hopewell’s Wes Gigliotti for an outstanding weekend on the basketball court. Wes plays for the Drill for Skill 5th Grade team and his team, DFS The County Ambrose, won the DFS Spring Shootout by going 4-0.

Not only did his team shine but so did Gigliotti as he was named tournament MVP. In the opening two games, Gigs had back to back performances of 15 and 19 points.

Nice job Wes!

**We also wanted to recognize some Hopewell girls that play for Strick Hoops Basketball. Hopewell’s Sofia Cronin and Madison Morgan team had a successful weekend.

After not winning a game in a tournament two weeks ago, this team bounced back with a couple impressive wins.

On Saturday, they won both of their games, 53-11 and then 33-28 over Drill 4 Skills Yurcina. This was a cool moment as 4 Hopewell players matched up-Cronin, Morgan, Gia Yurcina and Isla Rock.

By winning these two games, it put Cronin and Morgan in 1st place for their bracket for Sunday play. However, they fell short losing to Drill 4 Skills/Garafalo, which featured two other Hopewell players:  Callie Sadler and Ri’lynn Davis

A tremendous representation from Hopewell girls basketball players in these basketball AAU tournaments.
