More basketball in Hopewell to report on as the Hopewell 7th grade girls travel team was on the court this afternoon as they took on New Brighton.
This group of girls had a very successful junior high season and are picking up where they left off. This isn’t a surprise considering the talent that’s up and down this roster.
The first half of this game was close as Hopewell led by the score of 13-12 but in the second half, Hopewell allowed New Brighton only 1 point over the next two quarters and they completely dominated to go on and win 37-13.

Amiyah Shell scored Hopewell’s first field goal, which gave them a 3-2 lead. After New Brighton went back on top, Amiyah sank two free throws to put Hopewell back on top, 5-4.
New Brighton scored the next four points to go up 8-5 but Shell scored third basketball and 7th point of the game to close the deficit to 8-7.
The Lions went back up by 3 points, but Hopewell went on a mini run to gain control of the game. Baskets by Ellie McCoy, Arion Shell and Afton Budris gave Hopewell a 13-10 lead.

The second half was ALL HOPEWELL.
After Arion Shell converted two free throws to put the Lady Vikings up 15-12, Hopewell went on an amazing run.
Amiyah Shell made a basket and was fouled to make it a 3-point play and Hopewell now led 18-13. The rest of the way, Hopewell 2 field goals were made by Arion Shella along with a 3-pointer. Ellie McCoy scored 4 more baskets down the stretch as she dominated inside.
