With the start of high school football just 2 weeks away, media outlets across the WPIAL are putting together lists of top players.

Some of those lists are of top overall players, while others are top players by position and others are of top players in specific grade level.

WPIAL Insider, one of the most respected voices of WPIAL high school football released a list of Top 10 quarterbacks and it included Hopewell’s James Armstrong.

The sophomore quarterback was ranked by WPIAL Insider as the No. 9 overall quarterback in the WPIAL. Ranked ahead of Armstrong are Matt Sieg (Fort Cherry), Aaron Strader (Pine-Richland), Nolan Dilucia (Peters Township), Cam Walters (Woodland Hills), Ryan Messina (Elizabeth Forward), Joey Felitsky (North Catholic), Samir Crosby (Greensburg CC) and Marques Council (Aliquippa).

This is nice preseason recognition for Armstrong, especially considering he’s only going into his second season of varsity football.

Personally, I believe ‘Boo’ should be up a few spots but in reality it doesn’t matter and he’ll have a chance to showcase his talent in what should be an exciting year for the Hopewell offense. Armstrong will be leading an offense with playmakers such as Nasir Wade, Brody Rock, Logan Triscila, Tre Cameron, Kingston Krotec, Avery Bokor, Zander Muzy, Viny Boris and Josh Brunton.

Coach Mottes and Hopewell will be in action this Saturday as they take on Ellwood City in a scrimmage. This will take place at Tony Dorsett Stadium and starts at 10 AM.
