It’s that time of the season where our athletes in Hopewell are involved in more than just school sports.
In an attempt to not only be active but to get better, boys and girls in Hopewell are taking part in travel leagues, AAU leagues and others.
Vikings Sports Now wants to recognize thema and let you know about their accomplishments so at least once a week, we’ll post their accomplishments.
We posted this on Facebook, but if you’d like to send us information/pictures of your child, please do so by sending it on Facebook or you can text me, 724-462-5756.
**Hopewell Soccer Players Compete at Nike Cup and Blue-Chip Showcase
Hopewell Junior High and High School soccer players traveled to Ohio this past weekend, competing with their FC Pittsburgh travel teams.
Several Hopewell soccer players competed at the Nike Cup tournament in Columbus — one of the premier spring soccer events, attracting top club teams from across the Midwest. Nico Crivelli and RJ Bushnell battled through tough matches, gaining valuable experience despite their teams falling short in their respective bracket but showing tons of quality in their games. Junior High players Dylan Ankrom and Kaleb Gonzalez reached the championship game, losing only in a penalty shootout. Hopewell’s weekend was capped by Quincy Sannan and Aaden Gonzalez, who helped their team win the championship. Aaden helped control the pace of the games in the midfield while Quincy delivered a crucial header in the 2-1 victory in the championship game.

In Cincinnati, Nykyeron Leonora played with his team at the Blue Chip Showcase, while soon to be seniors Tommy Armour and John Sakson competed with their team, all showing their skills in front of college scouts.
It was a busy and successful weekend as Hopewell players showcased their talents against some of the best competition in the region.
