Because of injuries and a limited roster, the 2025 season will be challenging for the Hopewell HS Girls Soccer team.
In fact, the team has sent out a message looking for any girl that might want to join the team to reach out to someone in the program or the Hopewell Athletic Department.
With all that being said, the Lady Vikings took part in their first scrimmage of the season last night and came away with a 1-0 victory over Blackhawk!
The matchup between Hopewell and Blackhawk proved to be an evenly balanced contest, with both teams generating scoring opportunities but unable to capitalize in the first half.
Strong defensive play and sharp goaltending kept the game locked at 0-0 heading into halftime.

Hopewell’s Allie Ramaley
As she’s been for most of her Hopewell soccer career, senior Allie Ramaley was outstanding in net. Ramaley came up big throughout the match, shutting down every Blackhawk scoring opportunity.
Ramaley didn’t do it along as she had strong play in front of her led by Sadie Lubert, Aubrey Cumpston, Isabella Torres, Holly Biesenkamp and Leanna Roberts, who anchored the back line and keeping the Blackhawk attack in check.
Hopewell finally broke through with a goal in the second half. Abby Matesic and Harley Hample executed a perfect give-and-go, with Hample firing a long-distance strike from just outside the 18-yard line to give Hopewell the lead.
VSN also wanted to recognize Grace Hochmuth, who turned in a standout performance, controlling possessions and setting the tone in the middle of the field for Hopewell.
Hopewell will have one more scrimmage on Wednesday against South Side before they open the regular season on August 28th against North Catholic.
