Plenty of exciting things are happening in the world of Hopewell baseball as the High School program is still alive in the PIAA Playoffs and one of our Pony League teams are undefeated and looking like the No. 1 seed in the Beaver County Pony League Playoffs.
It doesn’t end there as last night as something exciting took place in Hopewell Youth Baseball, the place where all it begins for future Viking baseball players.
Established in 1986, family owned and serving the Beaver County community for over 40 years. Serving breakfast favorites and lunch specials.
Three Hopewell pitchers combined for a no-hitter, as Hopewell’s Team Winiarski defeated Freedom, 10-0.
Congratulations to Hudson Lavia, Jordan Peck and Coleson Orie who pitched the No-No!! Great job guys.
In the 9–10-year-old-league, pitchers are only permitted to go 2 innings. Lavia got the start and was nearly perfect, allowing only 1 walk and striking out 2.

Hopewell’s Jordan Peck
Peck pitched the 3rd and 4th innings and didn’t walk anyone and struck out 4 batters.
Orie then had the pressure of keeping the no-hitter intact and that’s exactly what he did and struck out all 6 batters he faced.
Hopewell’s Coleson Orie
A couple things that stood out is that Lavia, Peck and Orie only walked 2 batters, which is impressive for this age of kids. Also, they were very efficient with their pitch counts- Lavia (30 pitches), Peck (20 pitches) and Orie (26 pitches).
As is always the case in no-hitters, the pitchers are aided by a couple solid defensive plays that preserve the no-hitter and that was the case last night.
In the bottom of the 1st, first baseman Cam Winiarski knocked down a hard ground ball that deflected to second baseman August Arostegui, who picked it up and threw it to Winiarski, who got back to the bag.
In the bottom of the 3rd, a hard ball was hit up the middle that shortstop Jordan Peck knocked down, the ball deflected over to second base, where Colton Eiler picked up and stepped on second base for a fielders choice.
Offensively, Hopewell collected 11 hits and were led by Levi Magnone and Peck, who both had 3 hits apiece.
RBI getters for Hopewell were Peck (3), Magnone (2), Winiarski (1), Orie (1), Lavia (1), Eiler (1) and Cash Lockerbie (1).
All in all, congrats on the no-hitter Lavia, Peck and Orie.
