Congratulations to the 2004 Hopewell High School Girls Volleyball team for receiving a huge honor this morning.
The WPIAL has announced their Hall of Fame Class for 2026, and it includes that incredible 2004 Hopewell Girls Volleyball team. Congratulations to Coach Terry Borkovic and all members of that dominant team.
That season, the Lady Vikings won the PIAA, WPIAL championship (for a 3rd consecutive season), while also winning the section, MAC Conference, Montour Tournament, Blackhawk Tournament, and State College Tournament titles.
That team was led by Christa Harmotto but also included five future D-1 volleyball players and multiple collegiate athletes. Harmotto went on to be named the 2004 Pennsylvania Gatorade Player of the Year, a PrepVolleyball.com All-American, go on to star at Penn State, become a member of the USA Women’s National Volleyball team and go on to participate in two Olympics for Team USA (2012 and 2016).
The 19th annual WPIAL Hall of Fame Class was revealed this morning at the Senior John Heinz History Center and Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum.

The annual WPIAL Hall of Fame induction banquet will be held on Friday, June 5 at the DoubleTree Hotel in Greentree (500 Mansfield Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15205).
