With Beaver losing to Ambridge, Hopewell had the opportunity to move into a tie for first place with a win over Central Valley.
Unfortunately, that didn’t happen as CV broke a 2-2 tie in the 7th inning by scoring 5 runs on their way to a 7-3 win.

Hopewell led 2-0 heading to the top of the 5th inning only to watch CV score single runs in the 5th, 6th and 5 in the 7th inning.

Starter Ben McDonald pitched a strong game going 6 innings, allowing 5 hits, 2 runs (only 1 earned) and struck out 2 batters.
Hopewell collected 9 hits but weren’t able to take advantage of CV losing their starting pitcher in the 3rd inning (injury).
Seniors Kingston Krotec, Logan Triscila, James Gill and Ben McDonald each collected 2 hits, while Drew Donovan picking up the other hit with an RBI single.

It goes without saying that tomorrow is a huge game for Hopewell and once again, Kingston Krotec will be called up to come up big. Fortunately for Hopewell and to Krotec’s credit, he’s answered the bell all season.
First pitch from Central Valley High on Tuesday (weather permitting) is set for 4 PM.
