Mike Vukovcan For the second time this season, the Hopewell Vikings convincingly defeated a traditional top power in the WPIAL and because of that, they moved up in this weeks’ WPIAL football rankings.
Hopewell defeated Central Valley 34-6 on Friday and considering CV is a 4A program that was ranked in the top five, HC Matt Mottes program is being rewarded.
The Vikings will be in action this Friday as they’ll host Western Beaver starting at 7 PM from Tony Dorsett Stadium. Here’s something to keep in mind as we attempt to look ahead.
If and that’s a big IF, Hopewell is able to get through the remainder of their schedule unbeaten, which is a possibility considering they’ll be favorites the rest of the way, they’ll likely be one of the top two seeds in the WPIAL playoffs.
In all likelihood, we’re looking at either Hopewell or Propel Braddock Hills as the No. 1 seed. That top seed will likely be determined from the results of the last game of the regular season as Hopewell will travel to Aliquippa and Propel Braddock Hills will host Avonworth.
